If there were no salary cap in MLS, or if Sugarman were at least willing to spend among the upper- to middle-spending teams in the league, what sort of additions or changes would you make to this squad? Specific players or archetypes, or even just a general approach, would be interesting to know.
The factors: high altitude, early season (U) v mid season (P), and “coming back from behind” start to U season don’t add up for a resounding win but the resounding loss needs explanation. I agree Sullivan looked great R mid, why change that. I ❤️Bedoya as much as any U diehard, but maybe not starting at this point. Agree also that defense has been struggling- hard to write it but Blake too.
It doesn’t feel like the Union’s business model of developing young players supplemented by veteran hardworking players in their prime (i.e. - no stars) is suited to compete in multiple competitions especially internationally. While all MLS teams that have been playing in 3-4 competitions have struggled to keep up, it appears especially hard for the Union where their depth options haven’t had enough professional experience to support these efforts. These last two years, CCC has taxed our core so much early in the season that it puts the Union behind the eight ball in competing for the top spot in the East and Supporter’s Shield.
How do you think Tanner and Curtin should be thinking about solving this problem, aside from asking Sugarman to spend more for higher end established players?

Sullivan was performing well and team also at right middie , Yet since then he has yet to start at that spot???
Is 6-0 in Mexico truly symptoms of underlying issues coming to a head or is it over reacting to a bad early season loss?
This defense was elite in 2022 and good enough in 2023. Why does the defense look so bad so far? And how does the defense turn things around?
how concerning is the fact we made minimal moves in the offseason? (it is especially worrying for me after his result)
