Welcome everyone to Year Three of independent content here at Union Soccer Blog.
I started this at the start of the 2023 MLS season and I’ve been blown away by all the support and feedback every time a new post goes up.
It’s crazy to think I’ve spent over a decade now on the Philadelphia Union beat, whether it be through podcasts, writing at national outlets or as part of the team’s radio broadcast, and this is the first one with real substantial change in a long time.
Speaking of change, there’s been some exciting changes on my home front. My wife and I welcomed our first child in November, so the longer than usual offseason was welcomed around these parts.
I’m excited, though, to be back in Chester every week covering every angle of this team as always.
I’ll be at a majority of home games and down at training at least once a week.
All paid subscriptions help with gas and other expenses getting to and from Chester. The rest of that budget goes to more road coverage.
The way I put it: A $45 yearly subscription covers one full tank of gas and that helps power one full week of coverage down in Chester, or helps add up with the away game budget. There’s also the intention to do some Club World Cup coverage on the east coast as well.
Additionally on the Union front, I’m working on a new content idea as well for paid subscribers only that will be unveiled in the next few weeks.
So with all that being said, I look forward to a new season and to interacting with everyone this season and providing some of the best independent coverage you’ll get anywhere in Major League Soccer.
Hopefully your daughter is as good luck for Union as she was for the Eagles!
Congratulations on the family! I checked Substack yesterday to see when subscription renews. Need hopeful things!
