CHESTER — The Philadelphia Union hit the 40-point mark with Saturday’s win over New York City FC.
There was plenty of time to ponder how remarkable that achievement was during the sluggish match in which the biggest winner was the humidity.
That wasn’t the only thing to go over in our heads after 90 minutes of mid-July soccer in 90-plus degree heat.
There were a lot of takeaways from Saturday’s win that can be applied to the Union’s overall outlook in Major League Soccer, while others were nice to see in a single victory.
I kind of hate that the headline makes me sound like a snooty college professor, but as I thought about the game more, there were a lot of big-picture items that can be applied to Leagues Cup and beyond.
