Previewing the Philadelphia Union's Playoff Matchup with New England Revolution
The Union and Revs will play a best-of-three series that spans three weeks starting on Saturday.
The Philadelphia Union will get more than familiar with the New England Revolution over the next two weeks.
That’s a hard thing to do because the Union and Revs are already so familiar with each other from the last four seasons.
Philadelphia and New England played 12 times over the last four seasons. If the series goes the distance, that will be 15 matches between 2020 and 2023.
That’s a lot of games against each other, but there are still new facets to the matchup, and a handful of them were on display in the Decision Day contest between the two sides.
The Union have the obvious goal of slowing down Carles Gil and Gustavo Bou, and how exactly they do that will determine if the series lasts two or three games.
Offensively, the Union need to get it together. In fact, the Union need to get it together in all facets of their game.
We only saw flashes of the 2022 Union team throughout the MLS regular season, but there is still a glimmer of hope, albeit a small one, for that team to come back in the postseason.
