Philadelphia Union's Winning Run Sets Tone for Second Half of MLS Campaign
The Union sit on 30 points in third place in the Eastern Conference after winning seven of eight MLS games in a six-week span.
The Philadelphia Union needed to make a surge up the MLS Eastern Conference standings.
And surge they did.
Jim Curtin’s men won seven of their last eight MLS contests and they are firmly in position to compete for the top spot in the East and for the Supporters’ Shield in the second half of the league campaign.
The Union’s official halfway mark comes on Saturday on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes, but now feels like a great time to assess where the club is at because there’s finally a break in the schedule.
Philadelphia played at a breakneck pace for three months. Only LAFC has been involved in more games across all competitions among MLS clubs.
And now there’s finally time to breathe and regroup, and reason to be excited about what’s to come throughout the summer months.
We also learned a lot about the 2023 Union during this run of games. They are very similar to the 2022 version of the club that went to MLS Cup, but also different in a good way that could bring them back to that spot.
