Philadelphia Union Turn In Gritty Defensive Performance to Beat Red Bulls
The Union got plenty of strong defensive performances in the 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls.
The Philadelphia Union grinded out a gritty, ugly 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
“I don’t care how we win it. Just win. That’s it,” Union manager Jim Curtin said.
“When you play in derbies, in these types of games, they look ugly, just want to win,” Curtin said.
No one will remember this match among a 34-game Major League Soccer season, and certainly no one will go back to re-watch this match in the next few days.
It was flat-out an ugly soccer game, and the Union maxed out all of their defensive qualities to come away with three points, which at the end of the day, is what matters right now for the club.
