Damion Lowe's return to the lineup and a switch to the back three rebuilt the Union's defensive foundation.
CHESTER — Damion Lowe went up to Andrew Rick before Saturday’s game against the New York Red Bulls and delivered a simple, yet powerful, message to the teenage goalkeeper.
“To be honest, I told him before the game, you’re the boss, you have to demand from us, keep us alive, push us. He came up with three big saves, especially in the first half with the two breakaways,” Lowe said.
The Union defense, led by the back three of Lowe, Jack Elliott and Jakob Glesnes and Rick in net, held the Red Bulls scoreless in a back-to-basics defensive performance.
