Philadelphia Union Officially Announce Cavan Sullivan Signing
The Union officially signed the 14-year-old Homegrown product on Thursday.
Cavan Sullivan is officially a member of the Philadelphia Union first team.
The 14-year-old signed with the Major League Soccer club on Thursday after months of speculation about his future.
Sullivan is officially on a contract that lasts through the 2028 MLS season.
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert reported that Manchester City will sign Sullivan when he turns 18 years old. The English Premier League will reportedly pay up to $5 million for the Union academy product and a sell-on fee will be attached, per Bogert.
For now, Sullivan is a Union player, and it is very significant that he will be wearing the No. 6 shirt, not a higher number typically given to younger signings.
Sullivan signed a MLS record deal for a Homegrown player and he is the youngest player in club history to sign a first-team contract.
Sullivan, sporting director Ernst Tanner, head coach Jim Curtin and other members of the Union academy staff will be talking to reporters about the Sullivan signing throughout Thursday.
