Philadelphia Union Fail to Break Down Toronto FC's Strong Tactical Plan
The Union kept another clean sheet, but they failed to make an impact in the final third in the 0-0 draw with Toronto FC.
CHESTER — Philadelphia Union games have done a complete 180 in the last few weeks.
The Union played to their second straight scoreless draw on Wednesday against Toronto FC. Gone are the chaotic matches littered with defensive mistakes.
Defensively, the Union have figured things out with Leon Flach covering the space in front of Jack Elliott, who I think is playing at a best XI level, and Jakob Glesnes.
But nothing is going right in the final third, and on Wednesday, the Union could not crack Toronto FC’s tactical game plan.
“It’s too extreme,” Union head coach Jim Curtin said. “That’s not really what the Philadelphia Union’s badge of consistency over the last 5-6 seasons has gotten us where we are.”
