CHESTER — Jim Curtin and his Philadelphia Union players did not have the normal satisfaction that comes with a 4-1 home win.

“Not our best,” Curtin said after the game.

“Obviously, the fans go home happy with a 4-1 win, but I don’t think we played our best soccer. Not even close,” Curtin continued.

The frustration came from how uncharacteristic the Union’s overall approach was.

That’s something we have to talk about. It was 3-0 at halftime, but we felt like we were running after the ball the whole first half, and it was the same in the second half as well. We’re probably lucky we didn’t concede more goals.”
