CHESTER — The Philadelphia Union’s second U.S. Open Cup win of 2025 was far easier than the first one.

Frankly, the Union needed a performance like the one they got in the 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to set them up for Saturday’s clash with Inter Miami.

Four different players got on the scoresheet and the Union looked better as the game went on.

There’s not really a ton to complain about, which is exactly what you want from a cup game against an opponent from a lower division.

“We knew from the last time out against Indy that these games are no walkovers. We wanted to set ourselves a challenge to get the job done in 90,” Union manager Bradley Carnell said.
