Leon Flach Happy to Fully Healthy and Back In Philadelphia Union Squad
Flach played through a sports hernia in 2023 and suffered a torn pectoral muscle in preseason. He says he's in the best shape he's been in close to a year.
CHESTER — Leon Flach’s injury luck has been so bad in the last 12 months that he surprised doctors with what a soccer player could suffer.
The Philadelphia Union midfielder tore his pectoral muscle in preseason training during a normal tackle.
Flach entered preseason in terrific shape after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia issue that affected most of his 2023 campaign.
Now, the German-American midfielder is finally back in training and he feels like he is back to his top level.
“I think I feel fitter now than I have been in the last four years because of the rehabbing, the running,” Flach told the Union Soccer Blog. “I’ve been doing what I want and I just enjoyed being out there. Now I play how I want and it feels really good. I enjoy every session being in the squad now.”
