Jakob Glesnes Excited to Face Martin Odegaard, Arsenal in MLS All-Star Game

The Philadelphia Union defender played at the former Norwegian club of the Arsenal captain before moving to MLS.

CHESTER — The Major League Soccer All-Star Game rosters feature two Norwegians.

One is Philadelphia Union defender Jakob Glesnes.

The other is Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

Both players spent time at Stromsgodset in the Eliteserien. Odegaard was sold to Real Madrid in 2015 and Glesnes arrived at the Norwegian club in 2016.

“I was playing at a club that sold him to Real Madrid,” Glesnes said. “All the people in Drammen (the city Stromsgodset plays in) were talking about Martin. The family was around the club as well. It will be fun to play against him. He’s a great player.”
