Familiar Mistakes End Philadelphia Union's 2024 Season
Two defensive mistakes cost the Philadelphia Union a chance to get into the MLS Cup Playoffs.
CHESTER — There was an inevitable feeling around Subaru Park on Saturday night.
But it wasn’t the one that everyone in attendance held out a glimmer of hope for.
Instead, the typical errors that plagued the 2024 Philadelphia Union reared their head one final time to end the Major League Soccer season.
The Union failed to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2017, and they did so in an unacceptable manner by the team’s lofty standards.
“We paid for a lot of the mistakes on and off the field and that’s why we’re not in the playoffs,” Union manager Jim Curtin said.
