Daniel Gazdag Makes Mark on Philadelphia Union Record Book
Gazdag became the fourth player to have 50 combined goals and assists for the Union on Saturday. He is the fastest player to reach that milestone.
CHESTER — Daniel Gazdag embraced the pressure that came with his switch to the No. 10 jersey in the offseason.
The number change came with the signing of a Designated Player level contract.
The Hungarian continued to put up goals and assists in the No. 10 shirt to start 2023, and on Saturday, he became the fourth player in Union history to reach 50 combined goals and assists in MLS regular-season play.
“Daniel’s a great person, first and foremost. He embodies what we’re about,” Union head coach Jim Curtin said. “He’s not a selfish guy, or a guy that needs attention, or extra publicity from anybody. He’s a great teammate.”
“I think the way he plays, while of course he does set up a ton of goals with his great assists and he scores a ton of goals, he’s a team first guy and he just wants to win. He wants to get three points,” Curtin continued.
