Chris Donovan Making Strides In Philadelphia Union Attack
The Drexel product recently scored in the Open Cup and produced an assist in Saturday's win over New England.
CHESTER — Philadelphia Union captain Alejandro Bedoya sought out Chris Donovan once the forward got into the locker room on Saturday night.
A tip Donovan picked up from Bedoya paid off on the game-sealing third goal scored by Julian Carranza.
“As soon as I came into the locker room, (Ale) pointed at me and said he was taking credit for the assist. I’m willing to give him the credit,” Donovan said at training on Thursday.
“Bedoya would kill me if I didn’t give him the credit. In the Colorado game, I had a 2v1 situation where I tried to beat a defender to then pass to Dani (Gazdag), but I lost the ball. Ale told me if you pass it between their legs nine times out of 10 it’s going through and it’s going to work.
“I got a chance to redeem myself a week later and it worked.”
