BREAKING: Andre Blake Back, Cavan Sullivan To Be In Wednesday's Philadelphia Union Matchday Squad
Andre Blake will start in goal for the first time since April 30 on Wednesday night. Cavan Sullivan will also be part of the Union's matchday squad for the first time.
Andre Blake will make his return to the Philadelphia Union starting XI on Wednesday night against the New England Revolution.
“Andre is back,” Union head coach Jim Curtin said on Tuesday.
Blake has not played for the Union since he exited the April 30 game against Seattle Sounders with an injury.
Blake has been rehabbing his knee for the last month and rejoined first-team training at the start of last week.
”You can feel a little more of a buzz, an energy at training. A familiar voice behind them and that gives confidence,” Curtin said. “That’s not a knock on the other goalkeepers at all because Andre is the best in this league at what he does. It’s not dissimilar to Bouanga, Mukhtar, Bernardeschi. When we get him back, he’s one of our best players. We’ve been without him for a very long stretch.”
