Andre Blake, Damion Lowe Proud of Jamaica Qualifying For Women's World Cup Knockout Round
The Union's two Jamaican players are buzzing for the Reggae Girlz advancing out of the group stage for the first time.
CHESTER — Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake and defender Damion Lowe were beaming with pride after Wednesday’s training session.
Just hours before, the pair of Jamaican internationals watched as Jamaica secured its first-ever spot in a men’s or women’s World Cup knockout round.
“I think every Jamaican in the world is proud for them creating history,” Lowe said.
”I think you can say now they surpassed our ‘98 feat of getting to the World Cup. They’ve gotten to the World Cup twice and into the round of 16.”
“I’m so proud and I’m jealous and super happy for them,” Blake said.
Both players said they woke up and watched the second half of Jamaica’s scoreless draw with Brazil that placed the Reggae Girlz in second place in Group F behind France.
