Adjustments Lead to Philadelphia Union's Win Over New England Revolution
A tactical switch from the start and an in-game adjustment allowed the Union to win 3-0 on Saturday night.
The Philadelphia Union made two important adjustments that ended up as the difference-makers in Saturday’s 3-0 win over the New England Revolution.
Jim Curtin employed a tactical wrinkle with the three-man back line that allowed Leon Flach and Jose Martinez to surge forward, which made the Union’s transition moves much smoother.
At halftime, Curtin implored the attacking players to be more aggressive with their shot selection, and that’s what led to Daniel Gazdag’s opening tally.
The final product was a fourth win in five league games and a statement that the Union are getting back to old ways.
“Today was a classic Philadelphia Union performance,” Union midfielder Leon Flach said.
