The Philadelphia Union have been a part of my life for a decade now.
From the Burlington County Times to SBI to ProSoccerUSA (RIP) to Fox Sports The Gambler, I’ve covered the team in every medium you could imagine.
As I had some time to reflect this off-season, there was no way I could quit the beat with so many exciting things on the horizon in 2023.
As last season winded down, I had the itch to start writing on a more consistent basis again. I was doing mostly audio coverage with our pre and post game shows on The Gambler.
I don’t know what the future holds on the radio side. I would love for us to get the radio deal again, but that’s out of my hands and I wanted to get back writing even if we’re still part of the team’s radio coverage.
So here I am.
Back in the day when I first met Sean Brace, we formed Union Soccer Talk with Ryan Ellis. Those weekly video previews turned into a podcast that Sean and I did together.
So it makes perfect sense to just call this Union Soccer Blog.
I’m also bad at coming up with creative names, but that’s besides the point.
For preseason, I’m going to keep this free to read for everyone as I get used to using the platform.
I will take this to a subscription, a very affordable one, when the season begins but I want to hear from all of you what price point you’re interested in for all of the coverage. I’ll have coverage of every match, player features and tactical analysis throughout the week and there are some talks to fire up the pod on a more consistent level.
Okay now it’s time to get back to mentally preparing for a 50-plus-game season. An adventure I simply could not miss with all of you.
